FOCUSING MATRIX 410 655-0X0 MODELS (OPTIONAL)
Matrix 410 655-0x0 models are pre-assembled at the factory and have a pre-set focus
distance of 1080 mm. These factory settings allow the 655-0x0 model to be positioned and
calibrated without performing Focusing and Image Density steps.
If necessary, the focus can be changed but not the Diaphragm setting which is fixed at F/11.
To change the Focus Distance for these models, follow the procedure below.
CAUTION
It is strongly recommended to perform this operation with the reader
positioned so that the focus locking screws will not fall out and be lost if
accidently loosened too far.
1. Remove the yellow lens cover in order to access the
Focus Ring.
2. Loosen (but do not remove) the locking screws on the
Focus Ring.
3. Power the reader on. During the reader startup (reset or
restart phase), all the LEDs blink for one second. On the
connector side of the reader near the cable, the “POWER
ON” LED (blue) indicates the reader is correctly powered.
4. Enter the Focus function by pressing and holding the X-
PRESS™ push button until the Focus LED is on.
5. Release the button to enter the Focus function. The Blue
Diamonds™ turn on.
6. Adjust the Focus ring until the Blue Diamonds™ are
perfectly in focus, see Figure 18.
At long focal distances a "skew" angle may cause a noticeable difference in focus
between the two diamonds, in this case select the best possible focus (both diamonds
slightly out of focus). Tighten the Focus Ring Locking Screws.
NOTE
Since correct focusing is influenced by the illuminator lighting, you must
remove your hand from blocking the illuminator to correctly evaluate the
best focus position before tightening the locking screws.
NOTE
Complete configuration can be performed through the VisiSet™ Standard
Setup Wizard including focusing. See Step 8.
